Kroger offers reward after employee shot dead in parking lot

ST. MATTHEWS, Ky. (WHAS11) -- One man is dead after being shot outside of the Kroger Grocery Store in St. Matthews around 10 p.m. Saturday night.

Police say 34-year-old Jack Combs was walking to his car after his shift at the Kroger on North Hubbards Lane when he was shot. Officers said a coworker found him and called for help.

Kroger has announced they are offering a $5,000 reward for information that leads to the arrest and conviction of Combs' killer.

Police said they are investigating all leads. Anyone with information is encouraged to call the St. Matthew's police department at 502-893-9000.

Kroger has released the following statement:

"The Kroger team is heartbroken as we learn of the loss of Jack Combs. We are reaching out to his family now to see how we can support them during this most difficult time. The Kroger security personnel are working closely with the detectives of the St. Matthew's Police Department in an effort to find those responsible."
