(WHAS11) -- The opening of the Big Four Bridge has been delayed until late January or early February.
Louisville Waterfront officials say the hold up is due to the railings for the bridge. The balance of the railings for the bridge will not be received until mid January and installation could take several weeks.
When it is opened, the walking bridge will be complete with railings, lights and benches.
The former railroad bridge has been turned into a pedestrian bridge. The project has lasted several years.
