LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WHAS11) -- You can call her queen Jamesha Beard, a special needs student at Butler Traditional High School was named homecoming queen.
We introduced you to her last week when she was nominated and she won on Friday, Sept. 27.
One by one the convertibles came rolling by on Friday---royal candidates being introduced for queen.
Beard was just one of the nominees.
Beard was born prematurely with something called Goldenhar Syndrome that causes facial abnormalities and developmental delays.
But at Butler, other students, peer tutors work with the special needs students so everyone is part of student life, including homecoming.
Beard was decked out Friday night in her favorite color yellow, escorted by her classmate Roderick; students at Butler were really pulling for her.
Beard's family knowing win or lose--she really felt like a queen, but she was about to be crowned one.
Beard has overcome so much, including the death of her beloved father back in May. She was beaming and soaking in the moment with her mother Greta.
Samari Ward, one of Beards's peer tutors, was as excited as Jamesha.
Beard is one special queen and Butler is one special school for making homecoming something special to remember for Beard.
