LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WHAS 11) -- The coroner has identified a person killed in a single vehicle accident in the Highlands neighborhood on Tuesday morning.
The victim has been identified as Christopher Marti, a 28-year-old white male.
The accident happened around 3 a.m. in the 2500 block of Cherokee Parkway when Marti was traveling north and lost control of his vehicle.
Police also said they have not ruled out alcohol or drugs as a possible factor in the crash.
"For some unknown reason that individual lost control of the vehicle, struck a pole then a tree. As a result of a collision with the tree, he received fatal injuries and was pronounced dead on the scene. Louisville Metro Police Traffic Unit is investigating at this time," Dwight Mitchell, LMPD public information officer, said.
Cherokee Parkway was shut down between Longest and Willow avenues while police reconstructed the accident and cleared the scene - the roadway has since reopened.
