LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WHAS11) -- Downtown Louisville is losing a strip club and gaining a new upscale bar.

Jeremy Johnson and Hannah Kandle are leasing what used to be the Show and Tell strip club on Chestnut Street. They are in the process of transforming it into a cocktail bar called Meta.

"We really wanted to bring something to a new neighborhood that didn't have enough going on,"  Johnson said.

Right now the inside of the building is being transformed.

They're knocking down the old bar, and moving it to the back of the room - installing two garage doors in front, so they can open them during the nice weather. They're even making use of the old stripper poles. The plan is to use them to make a bike rack in front of the bar, and a railing under the bar.

Besides cocktails, Meta will feature an all French wine list and a special soda fountain for the non-drinkers. They'll use syrups for soda that they're importing from France. They'll be the only bar in the country serving them.

The bar is expected to open October first, but the owners hope to be serving food within a year.
