LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WHAS 11)--The Nordstrom Rack in St. Matthews opened today and the crowds didn't stop Louisville shoppers from checking out the newest bargains in town.

It’s shopaholic celebration; 617 shoppers lined the building this morning. When they were finally able to come in at 9 a.m. they were greeted by Nordstrom Rack cheerleaders.

“The excitement this morning was just so much fun,” shopper Laura Newton said.

Laura Newton got to Shelbyville Road Plaza early and so did Ashley Byerley and her mother.

“I was one of the idiots here at 8:15 this morning,” Byerley said .

Byerley was lucky enough to win a $100 dollar gift card while in line and her mom Toni got lucky with some terrific bargains.

Most people left the store with their hands full like Nada Parr.

“Six pairs of shoes? Six pairs of shoes for the kids,” Parr said.

“That's six pairs of designer shoes for a total of 150 dollars. It's the marked down high end goods that have people in a frenzy,” Parr said.

“I’m coming to look for earrings for pink prom tonight,” shopper Natalie Beck said.

“Anything that makes me excited to save money; it makes me excited to spend money. There are great brands; yes good brands,” said Byerley.
