LOUISVILLE, Ky. -- South Oldham firefighters are still putting out hot spots after an early morning fire in Crestwood.
It happened in the 7800 block of Kilgus Circle. Firefighters got the call around five this morning. When they arrived on scene they found heavy smoke and flames.
"This became a two alarm fire very quickly," said South Oldham Assistant Fire Chief Kevin Parker. The heaviest damage was in the back of the home, near the attic. Investigators believe some sort of electrical problem sparked the flames, but they are still looking into the exact cause. Parker says the fire was more dangerous than usual because of the age of the home.
After about an hour of battling the flames, firefighters got the fire under control.
Despite a partial roof collapse, no one was hurt. While the damage is extensive, crews did save part of the home.
According to the fire chief, about 30 percent of the house has been destroyed.
