LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WHAS11) – There’s new information about the sign slated to go up on Bluegrass Parkway honoring slain Bardstown Police officer Jason Ellis.
An unveiling ceremony was set to happen Tuesday afternoon but was canceled.
The mayor of Bardstown tells us there was never supposed to be a ceremony revealing the sign and that there was a miscommunication.
Officer Ellis' family did not want to be involved in a public presentation.
The highway department will put up the sign, that will say Ellis Memorial Highway, between Exits 21 and 34 eastbound. That is in the area where Ellis was gunned down a year ago.
His case is still unsolved.
