WOODFORD COUNTY, Ky. (WHAS11) -- Sixteen horses, a donkey, chickens, dogs and cats were all found dead on Tuesday in Central Kentucky.
Authorities discovered the animals in barn stalls and trailers in Woodford County near Versailles, Kentucky. Police say some of the animals appear to have been dead for several months.
No charges have been filed, but police believe the woman who leases the farm may have been trying to rescue abandoned animals.
Investigators also found some horses that were still alive, and are trying to place them with people who will care for them.
