Louisville, Ky. (WHAS) – A Louisville mother is dealing with the loss of her son and the financial burden that looms with burying a loved one.
Theresa Bowles has set up a booth at All Peddler’s on Preston Highway to help raise money to repay what she owed in funeral expenses.
“I’ve had such an outpour,” Bowles said.
The items are donated and the generosity of others has helped her repay nearly half of the more than $10,000 it cost.
Her son, 28-year-old Brandon Bowles, died in a car crash last March in Texas. He served four years in Iraq and Afghanistan.
“It’s overwhelming because you shouldn’t have to bury your child in the first place,” Bowles said.
Bowles said she hopes to continue the booth in the future to help other military families who have lost a loved one not serving.
