LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WHAS11) -- The mother of a 24 year-old Western Kentucky University who was killed over the weekend is pleading for the shooter to come forward.

Cheryl Williamson was home from school over the holiday weekend and she and her friends went to a party at The Gillespie in downtown Louisville where she was shot.

Her mother, Donetta Williamson, remembers the last words they said to each other.

“She said, ‘well momma I’m gone, and I said okay,’ and that was it. She never came back," Donetta Williamson said.

Cheryl Williamson was a senior at WKU studying fashion design. She was set to graduate in May. She would have been the first person in her family to graduate from college. Cheryl’s mom said her daughter was known for her big dreams and her love of school.

“That was her life. That was her world. It was something she wanted to do and she worked hard at it and them her life ended,” her mother said.

Cheryl was one of six kids. Early Sunday morning her mom remembers a knock on the front door. She was already awake because she was waiting for her daughter to come back home.

“I said as soon as I lay down she’s going to be beating down the door, ‘momma let me in,’ but that didn’t happen,” said Williamson.

Witnesses said Cheryl got into an argument and was shot in the chest. Cheryl later died in surgery.

Her mom, Donetta, has this message for her killer, “ Whoever you are you are a coward. You know that’s how I feel about it. My daughter is gone and you are still running around.”

Funeral arrangements are still pending. Her family has organized a memorial march in her honor for this Sunday, December 2. Everyone is asked to meet at 3:30pm on at Floyd and Market streets. Her family will walk seven blocks to 5th and Market where she was killed and release balloons.

Anyone with information on this case is asked to call 574-LMPD.
