LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WHAS11) -- A Louisville mother is facing criminal charges after police say she left her two infant children in a bed bug infested apartment.
Atem Akon is charged with endangering the welfare of a minor.
Officers were called to her home on Iroquois Garden Drive because the management of the apartment went inside to spray for bed bugs.
A police report says both kids appeared to be sick and smelled of urine and feces.
Akon said she was at the library studying.
The children's father works for the Home of the Innocents.
