Louisville, Ky. (WHAS11) - A new product line could be coming to General Electric’s Appliance Park according to the company’s CEO.
State lawmakers were invited in to the facility to see how new, energy efficient appliances are bringing Appliance Park back to life.
It may look like a water heater, but its new technology may bring 400 new jobs, a new product line to Appliance Park and the promise from GE's CEO of a future in Louisville.
It was state incentives that will bring the hybrid water heater to Louisville from China and the promise of more energy efficient smart appliances in the near future.
They are called demand response appliances. For the consumer it means saving money on the utility bill. In the future, energy will cost more during peak hours and GE is putting energy monitors on appliances to keep the costs down.
If energy conservation is GE's future then Appliance Park's future is no longer built on its past.
GE is working with the state on different incentives before making an announcement about the new product line.
