(WHAS11) -- Nursing mothers were out to prove a point that breastfeeding in public isn't gross of tactless.

Dozens of mothers brought out their young children to the steps of KISS FM at the Clear Channel headquarters at the Watterson and Newburg Road.

Many wore T-shirts expressing their viewpoints. Others breastfed their babies in the open. A couple of moms even went on the air to share why society should be more accepting of breastfeeding.

"This isn't us being angry,"  Lisa Masico-Thompson, a mother, said. "This isn't us saying this is what you have to do. This is us just saying this is our right to feed our children, and this is their right to eat, and we shouldn't have to be told to go to a bathroom to feed our child."

Tonight's event was formed after DJ Diaz brought up a tweet from socialite Kim Kardashian. Kardashian stated mothers should cover up while breastfeeding in public.
