LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WHAS11) -- Metro Narcotics says they're busting a lot of meth labs in the suburbs. Most recently, police found a meth lab in a quiet neighborhood in southwest Jefferson County. More disturbingly, they found a baby less than one-month-old inside.
It is your typical suburban neighborhood: nice homes and manicured lawns. And at first glance, 9819 Brooks Bend Road fits right in, but a sign on the door reading "warning: notice of methamphetamine contamination" makes this house stick out like a sore thumb.
However, neighbors don’t like it at all. “It didn't make me feel comfortable. It's just a whole bunch of stuff that was down there and I didn't appreciate that,” said neighbor Frank Clark.
Police charged Clayton and Kaylan Sherrard, and Carl Bowley, with manufacturing meth, and because police found a 16-day-old baby inside, the three are charged with child endangerment.
Detective Kevin McKinney says the baby was found in the living room and the meth was mainly in the garage, but also the kitchen. The homeowner, Carl Bowley, is a war veteran. "He was military. He just got back from Iraq a year ago. He owned the house for two years, wife bought it while he was in Iraq,” said Det. McKinney.
The three are charged with Class B felonies that can carry 10 toy15 years, but because they're first time offenders, they could get probation.
