LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WHAS11) – Senators Mitch McConnell and Rand Paul will be in Louisville Monday to help unveil a new recycling facility that will turn coal byproducts into fertilizer.

McConnell and Paul will join LG&E at their Mill Creek generating station.

The coal-fired plant is undergoing a $940 million upgrade to its pollution controls.

LG&E says the facility is environmentally-friendly because it recycles the coal-burning waste.
