LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WHAS11)-- One of the state’s oldest child welfare agencies celebrated a milestone today.
Maryhurst, founded in 1843, celebrated its 170th birthday by breaking ground for a new cottage on Dorsey Lane off Hurstbourne Parkway.
Lieutenant Gov. Jerry Abramson and former Judge Sadiqa Reynolds attended the event.
The non-profit organization cares for nearly 300 children each year through residential treatment programs.
In 2012, the agency launched a $10 million campaign, entitled “Stand Up For Girls.” The campaign helped raise the funds needed for the new cottage.
