Marengo father in custody after son was shot

MARENGO, Ind. (WHAS11) -- A father was sent to jail after son was found with a gunshot wound to the abdomen.

Crawford County Sheriff deputies repsponded around 2:20 a.m. Saturday to a report of a gunshot victim in the White Oak Subdivision near Marengo, Indiana.

The victim, 18 year-old Paul Schmitt was shot in the abdomen. His father Floyd Kennylee Schmitt was also at the scene and taken into custody at the Craford County Jail.

Paul Schmitt was airlifted to a Louisville trauma center.

Kennylee has been preliminary charged with aggravated battery with a bond set at $27,500.

The case is still under investigation.
