LOUISVILLE, Ky. -- The man struck and killed on Dixie Highway early Monday morning was identified Tuesday.

The Jefferson County Coroner said 66-year-old James Mason died at the scene when he was struck near the intersection of Nobel Place.

The accident happened around 6:45 a.m. Police said a pick up truck hit Mason.

Mason was a retired Master Sgt. in the U.S. Air Force and lived in the 3800 block of Dixie Highway.

Police said the driver did stop and tried to help the victim.  No charges will be filed.
