LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WHAS11) -- A man is fighting for his life in the hospital after an early morning shooting Sunday.
It happened shortly after 5:30 a.m. Sunday at East Main and Campbell streets right in front of Lincoln Elementary.
According to Louisville Metro Police spokesperson Alicia Smiley, the man was in an ongoing dispute with several people early Sunday morning. The group left The View, an after-hours nightclub on Story Avenue, and several cars began traveling onto Main Street. That's when the man was shot once in the abdomen and crashed. He was the only person inside the car.
Community liaison, Christopher 2X, is serving as the family spokesperson. He says the victim is a 29 year old father. “His liver was penetrated by the bullet. A vital organ and also it ruptured an artery. One bullet is still lodged in him.”
He was immediately taken to University Hospital where he underwent emergency surgery. He is listed in critical condition in the ICU.
According to Christopher 2X, the male victim is in critical condition and has lost an extreme amount of blood. Several witnesses said the violence escalated following an ongoing Facebook feud that began after the victim expressed displeasure over a song at a music contest.
