LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WHAS11) -- Homicide detectives have yet to name a suspect in a deadly shooting at Dosker Manor, in Louisville, Tuesday evening.
The shooting happened around 5:50 p.m. in an elevator on the 12th floor of building 8. That’s where police found 29-year-old Richard Spencer, confined to his wheelchair, shot multiple times in his torso.
"We believe he was the intended target,” Lt. Todd Kessinger, with Metro Police, said.
Police said Spencer and the suspect were acquaintances, and were in a dispute when the shooting happened. A woman, 40 weeks pregnant, and in her twenties, was shot twice in the abdomen. Police said the female had no relation to the other two involved.
"We think she was just in the wrong spot at the wrong time,” Kessinger said.
EMS transported the female to University Hospital. Her baby was born a short time later.
"She was taken into emergency c-section surgery. They're both doing well,” Kessinger said.
Police credit doctors at the University of Louisville Hospital for the life-saving measures taken on both the mother and her baby.
"A woman who's 40 weeks pregnant, shot twice…the university deserves credit on that,” Kessinger said.
Police are looking over surveillance video from the complex. They're also talking to a number of witnesses from the scene. If you have any information that can help police, you’re asked to call 574-LMPD.
