LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WHAS11) – Twenty years behind bars is the sentence for a man who pleaded guilty Monday morning, Feb. 3, to killing a minister three years ago.
Jason Majors went to trial for the murder of Karenzo Audace in 2012 but it ended with a hung jury.
Lawyers had been preparing for Majors to go to trial a second time but Monday's plea means that won't be necessary.
Majors had been accused of making sexually harassing comments toward the victim's wife before the minister was murdered.
Prosecutors say they hope the victim's family will have some closure now.
“Obviously I believe true justice will be a longer sentence, but given what the jury did last time, was not something I could ignore,” Elizabeth Jones Brown, prosecutor, said.
The victim's family has moved out of the Louisville area since the murder.
