LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WHAS11) -- One man is behind bars in the kidnapping death of a southwestern Louisville man
The arrest report for Joseph Starling mentions co-defendants, but Metro Police won't say whether or not there are others involved.
The case is still under investigation. Joseph Starling, 44, was arrested on Sunday, Feb. 23, and faced a judge on Monday, Feb. 24.
He's charged with helping kidnap and beat 45-year-old Robert Holt.
"I think it's all kind of weird," Wayne Stout, a neighbor, said.
Wayne Stout now lives in the trailer that Holt once lived in, off of Dixie Highway. The thought of the crime still haunts him.
"We just figured it was someone he was acquainted with in the past that came and caught up with him," Stout said.
According to a police report, Holt was kidnapped from his home on Stardust by Starling. He tried to run away but was beaten and placed into a car. According to LMPD, he was removed from the car and beaten again. That was the last time he was seen alive.
Police found Holt's beaten body at the bottom of a hill in a rural area on Weaver Run Road in Bullitt County on Oct. 28. Stout is relieved to know Starling is off the streets
"At least we don't have to worry about it anymore," Stout said.
Police say he died from blunt force trauma and a single gunshot wound.
