(WHAS 11)-- A deadly accident after a man crashes into a tree.

The accident happened around 3:30 a.m. at 22nd and Muhammed Ali.

Investigators say the driver was going 80 mph.

According to Police the impact snapped the car in half. The driver was headed west on 22nd and Muhammad Ali when he hit a tree. At this point police are knocking on doors talking to neighbors to see if they saw or heard anything leading up to the crash.

No one else was in the car and no one else was injured. This is a residential neighborhood police say no one lives in the home where the tree is in front of.

Police aren't able to tell if he was wearing a seat belt because the impact was so strong he was ejected. He was pronounced dead at the scene.

Police are still looking into toxicology results to see if alcohol or anything else was a factor in the crash. We do not know the identity of the victim and are still waiting.

22nd Street is now open.
