LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WHAS11) -- The man charged with driving high and running over a 5-year-old boy in Pleasure Ridge Park and killing the child faced a judge Friday morning, April 18.

Edward Pearce, 24, pleaded not guilty to murder and several other charges.

Benjamin Clem was riding his scooter on the sidewalk on Grandel Boulevard around 7 p.m. Thursday night when a minivan hit him and drove off.

Witnesses were able to get the van's license plate and police tracked Pearce down at his house a few blocks away.

Police said they found drugs and paraphernalia in Pearce's minivan.

His criminal history includes another DUI arrest around April 2013.
