LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WHAS11) -- Sewer bills in Metro Louisville are increasing, and so will paychecks for MSD employees.
According to the Courier-Journal, MSD approved a 5.5 percent rate hike and also approved $600,000 in bonuses for 600 employees.
Officials said the bonuses are a reward for employees helping exceed the district's goals for the year.
The rate hike is pare of a 19-year plan to comply with EPA sewer standards. The rate is slightly lower than last year's increase of 5.8 percent.
The rate hike goes into effect Friday.
