WASHINGTON (WHAS11) – A Louisville family was just arriving to visit the U.S. Capitol when shots rang out Thursday afternoon.

Tim Arnold, his two daughters and wife were pulling up on a bicycle cab when they saw the car chase and then heard gunshots.

A photograph published in USA Today shows Arnold on the ground with his camera, his family nearby also taking cover.

The family says between the government shutdown and the shooting, they have left Washington D.C, and are currently in New York.
