LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WHAS11) – A Louisville doctor was arrested at his office Friday and charged with sexual abuse following an alleged incident with a patient.
According to the police report, a victim stated she arrived at 51-year-old Ghias Arar’s practice for an appointment on Friday when she was sexually abused by the doctor in the exam room.
The victim told police Arar ripped her clothes off and began fondling her in a sexual manner. The victim also said she asked him to stop and attempted to push him away, but he grabbed her by the back of the neck.
Also according to the report, DNA evidence was found on the victim’s clothes.
In a press release sent via Arar's attorneys they note
"Dr. Arar intends to cooperate with an investigation that he feels certain will clear his name entirely.
Dr. Arar’s attorneys intend to fully explore all the facts that that can be pieced together about why this patient is making such an allegation, and to fully investigate what appears to be a very troubling past for the patient in question.
Oddly, this was the only time Dr. Arrar has ever seen this patient, who appears to have engineered her appointment such that she was the last patient seen on a Friday afternoon.
Dr. Arar has additionally noted that an individual claiming to be the patient’s husband has already begun an internet smear campaign against the doctor, apparently in an outrageous effort to bolster this individual’s attempts to seek money from the Doctor.
Dr. Arar is a U.S. citizen and neurologist trained at U of L Medical School and Vanderbilt, and has never had an allegation of this kind or any kind of malpractice claim against him.
He has been married for 17 years and has four children.
He denies in the strongest possible terms any allegation of wrongdoing with this patient, and intends to plead innocent at his first appearance in court."
