(WHAS11) - Drugs, sex and a Louisville attorney facing serious allegations; drug defendant had her plea agreement wiped off the books after she said she had sex with her attorney in exchange for representation.
It all played out in open court Tuesday. Angel Martin is facing drug charges. She pleaded guilty but that plea won’t stand after she made this statement in court.
“I slept with him,” said Martin. She said it happened twice in her attorney’s office. Clark Baird represented her when she entered the guilty plea. Martin says she isn’t guilty but trusted Baird’s advice to plea in hopes of getting out of jail. Baird also represented Martin in the past.
“Mr. Baird represented you on a previous case and the sexual relationship that you all had is the way you paid him in that first case?” asked Judge A.C. McKay Chauvin. Martin replied, “yes.”
Judge Chauvin did not make Baird testify in the hearing.
“He denies having any sexual contact with Ms. Martin,” said Tim Denison, Baird’s attorney. “I think the evidence will clearly show that he was paid for his representation by various parties on each occasion that he represented her.”
This is the second time Baird has been accused in sexual indiscretions. In 2009, Baird said Sheena Lucas was trying to extort him for money after she alleges they connected on Craig’s List and met for sex. Lucas was later charged.
Angel Martin will now go on trial for her drug charges. WHAS11 did speak with Martin’s father who was disturbed by his daughter’s allegations. He said he wants the courts to decide what’s next for Baird.
Baird has not been charged in either incident. The bar association could open up an investigation.
Baird is married and does have at least one child.
