(WHAS11) The Louisville Zoo is nearing its goal to open the new Glacier Run Exhibit, but is asking Frankfort for help.
According to the zoo’s director, delays in construction due to the recession have increased costs on the estimated $29 million exhibit, so the zoo is asking lawmakers to help make up the difference.
Glacier Run is a multi-themed exhibit that includes a water-park, education center and a new home for sea lions and polar bears.
The park most recently received $2 million from metro government, and has raised nearly $24 million.
