LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WHAS11) -- Louisville Mayor Greg Fischer made the first donation on Wednesday morning, May 7, to kick off the Stamp Out Hunger food drive!
The food drive will officially kick off on Saturday and is organized by the National Association of Letter Carriers.
Mayor Fischer made the first official donation and it's all part of a national food drive.
Postal carriers are asking residents to put donations of non-perishable food donations in their mailboxes and they will be picked up on Saturday.
“I want to take this opportunity to thank all of our letter carriers," Fischer said.
You need to leave your donations in a sturdy bag by the mailbox and the food will be collected on Saturday and delivered to local charities including Dare to Care in Louisville.
