LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WHAS11) -- Fifth grade students from Hartstern Elementary in Louisville are helping spread a message of peace.
They're teaming up with a Western Kentucky University student to create a giant mural.
“We're gonna be first entry from Kentucky in the kids International Peace Project-- based off Picasso's Guernica, which was created during a time of crisis and war in Spain,” Meg McDonald, WKU junior, said.
About 60 fifth grade students are taking part in the project.
They each drew a picture of what peace looked like to them.
A local artist incorporated all the drawings into this mural and now students are helping recreate it on a 25-foot by 12-foot canvas.
The mural will be displayed at various locations throughout the city.
