LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WHAS11) -- A Louisville church is planning to perform same-sex marriages even though it is illegal in Kentucky.
We received a copy of the newsletter from Highland Baptist Church that reads the deacons have voted unanimously to marry a same-sex couple who are members of the church.
There is no word on when that wedding will happen but the church has set up a meeting for members about it in on June 8.
The newsletter said that over the years the church has "become a welcoming congregation for gays and lesbians who want to grow as Christ’s followers."
We reached out to the pastor for comment--but haven't heard back.
