(WHAS11) -- Local students are getting ready for a rally this weekend to remember Trayvon Martin. The Florida teen was killed one year ago in what some called a case of racial profiling. The group Connected Voices and Shawnee High School are joining forces for the event this Sunday.
Local students say the slogan for this year’s event is “I Am Still Trayvon.” Students still feel what happened to Martin could happen to them.
“It don’t matter if it happened 5 years ago it could happen today to a different person. So it shouldn’t die out ever,” said15-year-old Louisville student Christel Tribble.
The event is this Sunday at 3 at Shawnee High School.
