LOUISVILLE, Ky.--Kentucky and the city are beginning preparations for a local centennial celebration.
In 2014 the Belle of Louisville will turn 100 and on Wednesday Gov. Steve Beshear, Mayor Greg Fischer and Jeffersonville Mayor Mike Moore met to discuss the “Centennial Festival of Riverboats.”
Next October, Louisville will host a week long celebration that will gather nine different boats along the waterfront to celebrate American riverboat heritage.
There are fireworks and concerts also planned as events during the week including various types of cruises on those boats.
