Louisville, Ky. (WHAS11) - It's a case of random violence that Metro Police say they rarely see. A Louisville man was shot during a robbery as he picked up Chinese for his wife.

John Lannon was the last customer; the owners were closing when they noticed men approach him.

Lannon offered the robbers Chinese takeout and his debit card, what followed police say rarely happens, random violence.

The owners say they saw the gun, and then saw it go off. Lannon is hospitalized with a collapsed lung and a nicked heart.

His co-workers said they wanted to do something for their friend. Within hours, pledges on the site Pledgie.com started coming in to help Lannon.

At this point Metro Police have little to go on and are asking for help in solving this crime.

If you know anything, TELL IT. Otherwise this kind of thing won't stop.

More than the dramatically exaggerated claims in an old divorce case, we, the public, should be told WHERE in Louisville this random, unnecessary shooting occurred.
