At Thursday's "Closer to the Cure" luncheon at the Olmsted, the local Louisville chapter of Susan G. Komen Louisville presented awards to 18 programs.

Among those getting the $520,000 grants is Scott Memorial Hospital, the Kentucky Cancer Program, Casting for Recovery, Northon Healthcare and the Friend for Life cancer support network.

All the organizations who received grants provide breast health education and breast cancer screenings and treatments.

The annual Susan G. Komen Race for the Cure is coming up Oct. 12.
