Lincoln's waterfront statue now part of 'Heritage Trail'

LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WHAS11) – The statue of Abraham Lincoln that sits at Louisville’s Waterfront Park is now part of the Kentucky Lincoln Heritage trail which means it will get more notoriety from tourism leaders.

The statue, created by Ed Hamilton, was installed in 2009.

It features at 12-foot statue of Lincoln and also offers a look at different stages of his life including his childhood in Kentucky and his visits to Louisville that helped shape his views on slavery.

Four other attractions were added to the trail including the Lincoln National Scenic Byway from Hodgenville to Danville, the Lincoln Legacy in Springfield and the Joseph Holt Home in Breckinridge County.
