LOUISVLLE, Ky. (WHAS11) -- A Jefferson County Public Schools elementary school is being evacuated due to paint fumes.

The evacuation at Laukhuf Elementary School is just a precaution, JCPS spokesperson Ben Jackey said, after the chemical smell got into the school through the ventilation system from work being done on the roof.

He said EMS was called in to check out a child with a pre-existing condition that may have be exacerbated by the smell. The child was not transported to the hospital.

Jackey said he expects the students and staff to return to normal operations shortly.
