(WHAS11)—A Louisville Metro Police Department sergeant has been placed on paid administrative leave and an investigation is now underway by the Public Integrity Unit.

According to the The Courier-Journal, Sergeant James Hellinger has been charged with 13 misdemeanors including false reporting.

Hellinger allegedly sent an e-mail to Kentucky State Police on Oct. 29, 2008 in which he requested information about a person, falsely claiming the individual was a suspect.

He is also accused of using Metro Police computers on 10 occasions to access a law enforcement Website for non-law enforcement purposes and falsely reporting that his wife was drunk and beat him.
