(WHAS11) -- Metro police increase Thunder security following Boston attack

LMPD announced on Tuesday that they have added additional manpower for Thunder Over Louisville on Saturday. Police said they would normally staff 1,000 officers for an event that large, but since the Boston attacks on Monday they have now exceeded that number.

“That number can change at any time. We're still constantly reviewing our plans and receiving information and we are in constant contact with the FBI which is leading the investigation in Boston,’ said Lt. Col. Kenton Buckner with LMPD..

Police response plans include disaster scenarios and they are keeping their preventative plans under wraps, but say they are confident in their preparedness.

Across the river in Clarksville, police doubled their manpower for Thunder and since the explosions in Boston they’ve now tripled it.

Indiana State Police have not made changes. Sgt. Jerry Goodin said the force has been operating at high alert level for Thunder since 9/11.
