LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WHAS11) -- A former LMPD officer was acquitted of perjury and now she is fighting to get her job back.

Gabriella Allen was released from the police department in 2009 amid accusations of lying in a criminal complaint involving a man she was dating.

Allen was found not guilty on Friday morning and she said she is anxious to get back to patrolling the streets of Louisville.

“It’s my passion.  It’s all I’ve ever wanted to do ever since I have been a little girl, I mean, that’s it.  Policing, helping the public, that’s my life,” she said.

Allen was initially convicted on the charges, but the Supreme Court overturned the conviction.

She was a 12-year veteran of the LMPD and is awaiting approval to return to the force.
