LOUISVILLE, Ky. -- An officer with Louisville Metro Police Department's VIPER Unit is being investigated of possible wrongdoing.

According to court records, officer Carl Payne sent inappropriate texts, which included photos and videos, to a woman whom he had placed under arrest in 2013.

Those records indicate the woman, Chaka Murrell, surrendered her phone to LMPD's Public Integrity Unit. Police noted they observed the evidence on the phone.

This news comes one day after WHAS11 reported the commander of the VIPER Unit, Lt. Kit Steimle, was reassigned and is currently under investigation by the Professional Standards Board.  LMPD is not commenting on that investigation.

The Public Integrity Unit investigates possible criminal actions and the Professional Standards Board deals with possible ethics violations.
