(NEWS RELEASE) -- The Louisville Metro Police Department is committed to providing exceptional customer service to the people we interact with on a daily basis. We expect our employees to conduct themselves in a professional manner at all times. We acknowledge the fact that our employees, particularly police officers, have great latitude and discretion when performing their duties. With the powers associated with the position of police officer also comes the responsibility to use them wisely. When employees are found to have violated our policies and procedures, discipline or corrective action by their supervisors is initiated.
An adequate fair complaint and investigative process is critical to maintaining public trust, deterring misconduct and correcting inappropriate behavior. This is a responsibility the Louisville Metro Police Department takes very seriously, and we strive to meet the expectations of the public while preforming our official duties.
In an effort to meet those expectations, the Louisville Metro Police Department is providing a statistical recap of internal investigations that have taken place for calendar years 2012 and 2013. Updated information will be provided annually and can be viewed at the web site below. We hope you find this information useful and we are available to answer any questions you may have about our complaint procedures.
