(WHAS11) -- Protests are expected at the funeral for a Fort Campbell soldier killed in Afghanistan.
The body of Sergeant Michael Cable was returned to Kentucky Thursday. Cable, a Philpot, Ky. Native, was stabbed to death by an Afghan teenager last week.
Cable’s family said members of the controversial Westboro Baptist Church, a group that regularly protests at military funerals, plan to show up. The local American Legion and Patriot Guard have promised to stage counter-protests.
Once Cable’s body arrives in Kentucky, a procession will go through Owensboro. His visitation is Friday at Haley-McGinnis Funeral Home in Owensboro and the funeral is planned for Saturday.
