LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WHAS11) – George Jones, one of country music’s most influential artists, passed away on Friday and its rekindled memories for a Louisville woman who toured with him in the ‘50s and ‘60s.
Connie Hall lived in northern Kentucky when she was singing country music and touring the country with George Jones and others.
Hall says when she wasn’t playing shows with George it wasn’t uncommon for him to come see her perform.
“He’d come see me out on the road. I’d be working a show and he’d be maybe working in a different town or something, or maybe the same town and he’d stop in to see me,” Hall said.
Hall said George was her favorite country artist of all time.
She owned an extensive collection of his records but recently donated it to the Country Music Hall of Fame.
George Jones’ funeral will be held Thursday at the Grand Ole Opry House in Nashville. It will be open to the public.
