LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WHAS11) -- Kentucky Governor Steve Beshear said he expects a deal soon, to reopen Kentucky Kingdom, as long as the developer can get all of the financing he needs.
While doing an interview with Lachlan McLean on Tuesday with 84 WHAS radio, Governor Beshear said there continues to be discussions, but he insists the developer needs to secure all of the financing privately.
The governor did not name the bidder, but we know that the only group to step forward, is a group of local investors headed by Ed Hart, the former Kentucky Kingdom operator.
Governor Beshear said the state is "fairly close" to negotiating a lease.
WHAS11 contacted Hart on Tuesday night, he said he does not have a comment.
