LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WHAS11) -- Kentucky Derby Festival marathoners will have new restrictions on the race course.
On Tuesday organizers announced new race day rules in response to the Boston Marathon bombings. On the course, participants aren't allowed regular backpacks, though they can have water packs. Also no strollers or large music systems, like boom boxes, are allowed.
Race officials are also cracking down on bandit runners, people who run the course without registering.
On the sidelines there will also be security changes. Police dogs will search the finish and start lines and though allowed, all spectator back packs and parcels are subject to search.
