Next month, WHAS11 will be holding a day-long telethon to raise money for the Chuck Olmstead Memorial Fund.
Friday night, our great friend was honored for being a trailblazer in Louisville.
The music was flowing for the first event to be held at the Kentucky Center for African American Heritage on West Ali in Louisville. It's a major fundraiser, the 5th Annual Pioneer Awards coinciding with Black History Month.
The group chose to honor our colleague, the late WHAS reporter, Chuck Olmstead.
He died March 10th last year of a brain aneurysm. He came to Louisville in 1975.
Christie McCravy, foundation chairman of board, says this fundraiser is a major financial boost that helps carry Kentucky Center for African American Heritage through the year.
