LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WHAS11) – The Jefferson County Public Schools system is set to undergo not one but two financial audits.
The additional audit is a special request from Superintendent Dr. Donna Hargans.
“Sometimes audits need to end and we need to get on with the business of educating kids,” Donna Wesslund, Board of Education District 3, said.
The first is a requirement, but Hargens requested an additional audit to make sure the district is properly spending its money in every department. Both audits will be done with a fine-toothed comb.
“I do think the idea of fresh ideas having a look would....have the same notion,” David Jones Jr., JCPS board member, said.
The audits will cost $265,000.
